Abstract:
The aim of this study was to explore the relationships between vocational personality and burnout among novice, proficient, and expert teachers, selecting 1,108 primary and middle school teachers by a cluster sampling and two questionnaires related to vocational personality and burnout. The results showed that vocational personality was negatively correlated with burnout in primary and middle school teachers with large effects among proficient and expert teachers, and moderate effects for the novice; and that teaching preciseness, vocational persistence, teacher-student compatibility, and harmonious interpersonal relationship were negative predictors of teachers’ burnout, demonstrating invariance among novice, proficient, and expert teachers. This suggested that vocational personality is negatively associated with burnout in primary and middle school teachers, being a personality vaccine in teachers’ burnout.
