Abstract:
A director is a professional who performs the duties of the leadership and management of a kindergarten, a subject of wide concern to strengthen the quality kindergarten leadership in the whole process of preschool education development. This study used questionnaires, semi-structured interviews and text analysis to investigate the actual construction of public kindergartens leading teams. It found that the leadership is not well-staffed to mount great pressure on the directors, and that novice directors are increasing. It also found that formalism is typical of directors’ eligibility and training, and that directors’ assessment is lacking in incentive measures. Therefore, it suggested that specific steps are necessary to establish a standard qualification certification system, a reasonable post training system, a special mechanism for training would-be directors and talent introduction, increase the incentive measures in full play to the performance assessment, and maintain a lifelong study to improve the professional level to meet the challenges in the new situation
