Abstract:
This study attempts to extend the spacing effect to the category of logical relations of words by manipulating the learning style (massing/spacing) to examine the spacing effect in learning the logical relations of vocabulary. The results indicate that the scores in distributed learning are significantly higher than massed learning, suggesting that spacing effects exist in the category learning in logical relationships, and that participants’ judgment of confidence is not significantly different in two learning conditions, suggesting that participants in this paradigm are not sensitive to spacing effects in the meta-cognitive monitoring process
